Hi all just wondering what kind of scrapper you are. Do you measure everything, just eyeball it all or somewhere in between. I am an inbetweener..only meausure the critical things but everything else is a guess. How about you. Also just wanted to see how this poll thing worked.

I do eyeball when it comes to placement on some projects and measure on others It depends on what I am doing with the finished item and how much time I have. What ever seems best in the moment. Go with the flow philosophy I guess. Cindy

the only thing rulers get used for in my studio...measuring dies for all of the Divas at Scrapy Land, reaching my camera USB cable which drops behind my computer about once a week and scratching my back! LOL! Polls are FUN don'tcha think?!?!?!

No ruler for me. I am presuming that using the ruler on our cutters doesn't count! I eye ball placement. Even when I am scraplifting, I start with making an eye ball meaurement for the first piece and from there the design/layout becomes my own! Karen

I used gridded (quilting) rulers if something spans a page or is flexible. I found that when I photograph projects, if something is off, it shows up even worse in the photos!

I'm an eyeballer too! Measuring is over rated! Takes to much time. Gotta get those pictures scrapbooked!

Rulers are for newbs! Only joking. I don't even use the ruler on my trimmers. When I started a decade ago, I just never really paid much attention to the measuring, and I learned that way. I rarely, rarely use those numbers! I think once I sat down and did a lot of measuring when I was planning my classes, because there are people who came in that needed those measurements in order to survive. I probably ought to use one sometimes just so I don't forget how! But for the most part, I have just learned to get by without it and usually nothing bad happens as a result!

Eye ball it! I don't want everything to be too perfect, I want my baby boy to know his Mama wasn't perfect all the time... I also find it endearing.

Threw the rules and ruler away a long time ago. Creativity is what looks good to the eye.

let's just say, at the next crop I hope I am not put next to the lady with the lazer light ruler thingy. Twice now, I kid you not. Every time I saw it I thought I should duck, lol. Seriously, put it away, free yourself, nothing is perfect. And I say that because you could tell it was stressing her out, scrapbooking should not stress you out! Vicki

I love this idea. Sorry! I have an eye that can tell when stuff is off--I like it most days, but I can catch it when photos or titles are 1/8" off. Most days I can eyeball it, but titles with lots of white space around them can mess me up. It does come in handy with quilting, though. I don't have to mark most lines.

Me too Michelle-- I hate it when I glue down a title and there is more space on one side than on the other (unless that is how I planned it) I have even picked those letters up and re-glued them back. Or if a picture is closer to the edge at the top than the bottom. Sometimes I will just leave it but if it is for a swap or gift I will measure. It does not have to be perfect, only so close that no one can tell Cindy

Absolutely, Cindy!!
If things are off a bit, I've been known to re-position stuff, too! Gail

Cindy, you always have my back! I ALWAYS use Susan's repositionable tape trick when I'm gluing on a title. I line the letters up along a grid before I use the tape. That way, I know the letters are straight. A few weeks ago I was gluing down glittered letters (what could I have been doing? ) and the tape wouldn't stick to the letters because of the glitter. Grrr! I ended up redoing a bunch of the letters, and they were tiny. I need a better method for that...
