Ok, my husband made a comment to me over the weekend about having as much variety in my art room as some LSS or better. So that got me to thinking..I tend to buy stuff I like and eventually find a home for it (most times) and I hate to let go of stuff..I am definitely about the eye candy factor. If it looks pretty and catches my eye..I am going to buy it. I also do try to buy stuff with a plan to use it in a particular project but that is not as often as I buy on a whim. So what about you..how do you buy your scrap supplies.

I'm fairly good with sticking to my budget, but I buy what I like. I have a studio, so it all goes in there--it isn't taking up room in the main part of the house.
I just tell DH that I could be out in the bars spending money!

I'm probably a bit of both...
I love new scrapping "toys", but after a couple of years or so, I can go on a purging binge, and share a lot of it with friends who can use the things that are just gathering dust (unless I love them too much to give away...and that would include QK dies that I've never used, but I just might...someday! ;D)

Ditto!!
I tend to buy what looks good to me and I am easily distracted. Of course I buy for a project that I am working on, but the bulk is whim/sales/trendy/sparkley/etc.

I have been buying just because it caught my eye and my studio has been moved twice because I out grew it. Nowhere to go now! LOL!
So now and trying to buy for projects! But something always catches my and ends up coming home with me! There is hope for me yet.

I have two hobbies: one is scrapbooking/cardmaking, the other is buying scrapbook supplies. They are totally separate from one another!! ;D

That's too funny, Nikki!
...but you're not supposed to say that out loud! What if your DH heard? What if MY DH heard???

lol Michelle! My husband is fully aware! He knows I like to sit and flip through my Paper/Sticker Binders for hours and oogle my hundreds of rolls of Mrs. Grossman's. I admire my shelf of album kits, nice and unopened all in a row! Because, he knows that if he utters one negative grunt, I will burn his vintage unopened Transformers collection to the ground.

Nikki, you hit the nail on the head! I buy what I like, especially if I can get a good deal! After all, if you wait, then a new release comes out, and it's hard to find the previous stuff. Plus I need to have materials on hand if inspiration strikes when the stores are closed. And, I need a variety of papers and dies to "test drive" until I find the perfect ones! That's my story, and so far my DH is buying it!! Gail

Case in point: My scrapscription package came today. I looked at each little piece and paper, put it all back in the wrapper and placed it on the shelf. Yay! It's an adorable travel mini book, but I just did the smash book for my trip sooooo it can wait for another adventure!
Gail-That's exactly it! New stuff constantly gets released. I have to keep up else fall behind! You have to buy at least 4 sheets of that paper. Two strips of those stickers. Adhesive refills must be a permanent part of the shopping cart, no matter how many are already in stock at home! You never know when you will go on a scrappin' binge and use stuff!

I buy scrapping supplies because....I have a use for it. (not to be mixed up with I have a certain project) I keep "tons" of cardstock and paper and scor-tape on hand because you can't found them anywhere in town. (elmer's glue is even hard to find) If you don't keep basic supplies on hand ......well you get the picture. (save a few kids (other than my own) GPAs ) Now dies are a whole other story....first I buy what appeals to me....next I pick dies that I know that I will use in making cards....last but not least I buy dies I think will appeal or be used to make items for baby showers, weddings and etc. (I think that makes me a collector ) Cat

If something catches my eye, I most likely will buy it. I do try very hard to use my new Eye Candy on a project I'm working on.

I "try" to only get what I need. But NEED is a loose term here... I usually end up with a cart full o' eye candy! Pam

Hahahahaha! Nikki, you're hilarious. And yes, mom (Cat), you're definitely a collector, lol! I definitely buy things that visually appeal to me. I know if I like it, I'll find a use for it somewhere. But even if I don't, it's just darn fun to look at and organize! ;D

Oh yes! My kids are famous for wandering in about 8 pm with a project due. I think they are just used to shopping in my studio by now!

I used to buy just because I just love everything, but reality set in when I realized that there is only so much time in a day and I only have so much storage space......so now I am boring and buy only what I know I will use.

Dania, I'm with you after going up to my studio and seeing the 'stuff' that needs to be put away. I see a major purge and donation to a school teacher coming on! Karen
