...please check in when you can! We're hearing about the earthquake, and want to know that you're alright!

My house shooked here in NC. Hoping they check in soon. Reports are, no serious daage so far.
I have to admit I was a little scared. I picked up Missy and head for a door frame.

My sister was at work (in Raleigh) and said she thought her cubical mate was shaking the desks at first as a joke. Whoops!

Sounds like it was nothing life-altering, so I'm sure everyone is fine My parents said it felt like the guns were practicing at Fort Bragg, like a rumble or a low-flying helicopter.

Everything's fine, here! Very eerie, though! I was in my studio, and my Jetmax cubes were swaying back and forth... seems like it lasted forever, but I'm sure it was just a minute or so!! Unlike Karen, I didn't have the presence of mind to move to a more protected place, just sat in my studio, mouth gaping, watching everything moving!! I think Michelle and her family are still in Minnesota, but I'm not sure. Thanks for worrying, Diane! From what I can gather the epicenter was out in the boonies, and not much damage or injury has been repoted. Thank goodness!! to all of you! Gail

We're fine! And I'm glad to hear that everyone else is fine, too. Luckily, I don't have many knick knacky things unpacked yet, so no damage here. I'm in VA now (about an hour north of the epicenter) and felt every second of the quake! I swear, it went on for a minute at least. We lived in CA in the early 90s and I don't remember the Northridge quake shaking for that long. And I haven't noticed any aftershocks. The cell phones and the house phone weren't working for a while, but seem to be fine now. The kids have friends over and I was with the boys in the basement, trying to get the X Box set up. They just looked at me with the most puzzled look on their faces! At first, I thought it was a big truck going by, but it kept shaking. Then I thought maybe it was an explosion (my paranoid post-911 self.) I yelled for the boys to get to a doorway. (It was so loud down there with the house shaking and rattling.) And the girls didn't know to head for a doorway, either. I was hollering up the stairs, wondering if I should go to them or stay with the boys. When it was over, we had a PSA about earthquake safety. Never thought I'd have to do that in VA. What a day...

Glad to hear everyone is ok. I know living in Calif out here we almost seem to get used to them all. Working on the 6th floor we often have building shakes so you just kind of stop and wait to see if it's more than that...until some engineer strung a key from a sign that he attached to the celing tiles which reads..."earthquake dector"..still get a chuckle every time I see it. But it works! I bet the kids are all excited and of course a little earthquake instruction review is always a good thing.

It was a weird feeling. We felt in all the way in Maine. Finley went and hid in his box. Jenn

Poor Finley!
Big Dog didn't mind a bit, but then she's pretty calm. She doesn't even bark when someone comes to the door. I guess there's been enough comings and goings here lately that she thought it wasn't worth her notice. But she did get up and go to the doorway when DD called her over.

That's right! Saturday is D-Day for miss Irene's vengeance! These are the days when I'm glad I'm up in WI now instead of home in NC, although it still makes me nervous for my family. Hopefully everyone's battening down those hatches!
