Please show your work. Remember it's the photo's first. That is the most important part. What you do afterward is up to you. I never judge other peoples work. I just love looking at the photo's. I just got some cute photos in the mail today. My daughter got a small puppy Mac and he only weighs alittle over 2 pounds but he thinks he is BIGGER than that. I just love him. I can't wait to scrap his photos she sent me.

Jenn, I'm with the other Divas on this... I find it sad that you don't want to share your work with others. If you're not comfortable doing that here (but believe me, this is a lovely bunch of ladies who are so kind and supportive!), maybe you could start with a few friends... Work your way up to the MB or maybe a swap... The cards, pages, and other things we create are things of beauty and fun. It's a shame not to spread those positive feelings around by sharing them with others! That's how I look at what I make - I fell happy when I make them, and I want to share that happy feeling with others... Today's world is so full of trouble, doom, and gloom, but we can bring little rays of sunshine here and there with what we do! Whatever you decide, Jenn, you know we will respect your decision! Big hugs, sweetie! Gail

Thanks Everyone. I made cards for everyone one year and one family member said of that is kinda nice, one sent money and suggested I use it to buy store bought cards (yes you read that right) and a few friend said that it must be nice to have that much time on my hands. I did a swap once and though I did my best, I was told I was too beginner and last week someone asked how can I stand to scrap with products that are 2 to 3 years old and that I should really should spend more time folllowing trends. I do follow the trends, but I can't afford to follow them in this economy. Jenn

Jenn! That is just horrible. HORRIBLE. Those people are witches with a "b."
There are very few people in my family/friends who craft. Some of them get handmade stuff, others do not. I won't waste my time on those who don't value my crafting, so it all depends on how I feel if I want to do it or not.
But the person who said she only uses new products? Shame on her! Why? The paper doesn't go bad--that's why we use it! Personally, I get a little thrill when I use something from my stash. Part proud that I used something that I already paid for, Part proud that I stopped hoarding that particular item!
I hope that you realize that there are all types on this MB. Experienced or beginner, simple or technique based, fast or methodical. There is room for all of us and I hope you decide to share your work. And shame on anyone who says otherwise!

Jenn...what awful things to say to you! My mother had a saying that she used when people said unkind things...she would simply comment, "Just consider the source!" I hope that you will do that, and also realize that even some of the nicest people occasionally (and unintentionally) seem to have their bad moments. It sounds like you have been the recipient of a few folk's "bad moments" and bad behaviors, and that's just not right. I don't believe you'll find any of those people here on this MB! (And just for the record, for the last recipe swap, I used almost 100% items that I've had sitting in drawers and on shelves for a good while!)

I do follow the trends, but I can't afford to follow them in this economy. Jenn oh my goodness - if you knew how many "vintage papers" I have in my stash, that I use on a REGULAR basis - you'd be able to confidently say "everyone does it...!!" Because you know what - all of us do it! Pam posted a page with the MY SWEET GIRL SoSentiment and she told me specifically that she's had that patterned paper for almost 2 years! The red and green dotty paper that I posted with the felt-die-cut Santa last week - EASILY 3-4 years old! It was a scrap! I posted a card last night - the TRICK OR TREAT SoSentiemtn - that paper I have had for seriously - 5 years. I am fairly confident it is a creative memories paper! It was from an old kit I had... Using what you have - that is what makes us ALL AWESOME! We're smart, we're wise with our budgets, and we are creative enough to make "vintage" look AMAZING! So lay those responses on your family if they criticize you paper or product choices! It takes talent to use product that you've had laying around for awhile! Sure new is awesome and fun...but I oh-so-love using a piece of paper that I bought years ago at some convention or LSS, that i had to have! It make me smart and wise and awesome!!! YOU GO GIRL! Use what you've got - you're a supply rock star!!!!

Ditto what Susan said. I've been thinking about what you wrote and it just makes me mad! Why would someone say something so unkind?
Keep my favorite phrase in reserve. When someone is nosy/unkind/thoughtless, just ask them, "Why would you ask that?" If you have any southern roots at all, throw in a, "Bless your heart" on top of that. Stops them in their tracks and you don't seem mean at all for saying it.

I totally agree with Michelle, Susan, and Causunflower!! I have a lot of stuff over 3 years old!!! and I love to use it along with newer supplies.
I do not think I have ever seen any negative comments to peoples projects on this site. But I would not want to force you to do something you are uncomfortable with. I will say keep working at your hobby and do it for yourself. The Negative Neds can all take a flying leap!!

OH MY GOSH JENN; those people are tacky with a capital "T" and not worth your time or your great cards. As I told you before I love seeing every body's work. (and that means yours too) I don't care what other people think I bet your cards and pages are great. As for using older supplies; Boy I could give them something to talk about!!! !(and I'm proud of it!!!) When I go to a store I hit the clearance aisles first. The SS where I get paper holds sales for people to get rid of unwanted craft items. Oh My I wish you could see some of the great supplies & tools I've bought. I couldn't afford most of it when it was the "in thing" but their old stuff is new to me. (usually cheap too or a least reasonable) I love going to 2nd hand stores or garage sales that advertise scrap supplies I have gotten some real sweet deals. As for old paper, I can't tell you how old some of mine is....but it works just fine for the look I'm going for on my cards. It's the reason I bought it in the first place.....I knew it would make a GREAT card. Jenn, it takes very skilled, talented, and creative people to work with older stuff and turn it into a beautiful work of art. Please know that when you are ready to share your works we will love seeing them. Cat I was into recyling before it was called recycling

I just used a piece of PP that I've had for TEN YEARS!! I kid you not!! It went SO perfectly with my layout so who cares that it's from my beginner days of buying 8.5 x 11 PP!! I have a TON of OLD PP scraps and use them ALL the time!!

Jenn, I am so sorry that you had such terrible responses from unthinking people! Just know that we are here for you and we will see the thought, effort and of course the love you put in your project, no matter what it is. Karen

jenn I just love using old paper because I know no one can copy it because it is vintage. I keep all my fun scraps and just love digging in them for that perfect pattern. That's why I love my QK dies. They can use the smallest scrap. I don't throw away anything until it is almost nothing. I am so sorry people have spoken to you that way. Take care . We love you.
