sentimental feelings for an appliance? Basically I am replacing my refrigerator after about 17 years..I know it's old..but this morning I started thinking about how long that thing has been with us, through all the ups and downs, in good health and bad, raised 3 kids and I am sad to say that I hate to see it go, the refridge is like one of the family...sniff..sniff.

Sounds like your fridge has had a good run! We replaced ours last year but the new one will be the one to raise the kids. We got one of those french door bottom freezer models-soooo nice! Our old one was $45 in the scratch n dent area of a store, it gave us about 4 years of life and a high energy bill so I wasn't too sad to see him go! I can understand the appliance affection though! Sounds like a scrapbook page honoring the fridge is in the works!!

Nikki that is a great idea. Have to take a picture of it in all it's glory. I have art work on it from when my oldest ds was in kindergarten. And of course all those collectible magnets and photos. So how do you like your French Doors? I decided not to get one because 1. we only have room for a 30" and 2. it looked like you you need to open both doors to get into the fridge. Thus I opted for a bottom freezer. We also have one in the garage which is getting replaced..but we picked that up used but pratically brand new from one of my husbands clients when he was doing a construction job. It's been with us almost as long but I guess since it's been outside the attachement isn't as strong..and we didn't buy it..

I love the french doors. The model we got was the only one short enough to fit under our cabinets, so we were limited but it's amazing. I love that the doors are not as big because when I open it, it's not swinging way out and blocking the person who might be walking into the kitchen. We can open either door independently. The bottom freezer I've wanted for a long time, so I'm really fortunate to have gotten this fridge! It just makes way more sense for the freezer to be on the bottom to me! I only need to open both doors if I'm putting a casserole dish or something big into the middle area instead of one side, and I open them both to load it up after buying groceries, but otherwise I just open whichever side I need to get to.

don't feel bad Leslie - your life revolves around the fridge - take some pictures, shoot a close up of the logo - of the sticker inside showing the size of the space, and the handles - I bet they are worn in spots that you never noticed! Love pages like this - this is LIFE! But then - to be fair - take some great pictures of the new one! LOL!! And - I have a french door, 3-door, whatever you call it fridge. We got it last year and I love it. Freezer drawer on the bottom, double doors on the top - HUGE space inside! 2 gallons of milk and one wine bottle fit in one side of the door shelves - that's deep and still wide! I love that I can adjust the shelves easily to lay entire cookie sheets inside at eye level! The freezer drawer I love - the only drawback is my Golden Retriever loves ice cubes - LOVES them! So if I am loading up the freezer and have the drawer open he'll walk over and think it's totally appropriate to hang his head into the drawer! Luckily - the ice bin sort of retracts - so he can't actually grab his own ice cubes! LOL ENJOY your new appliance Leslie - tonight will be full of new sounds and you'll forget where the butter goes! But you're going to LOVE IT!

Yep, me and Susan have the same type of fridge. My son is the one hanging out in the ice tray though!

Thanks ladies..and I will be sure to get the new shots as well.. Funny thing is I am such a shopper I purchased them from two different dealers so I get one this Sat (garage) and the other one in about 2 weeks. I haven't told my youngest son so will be funny to see his reaction when he comes over for one of his Sunday visits.

Leslie, congrats on your new aquisition! We got a new fridge last year. A french door fridge didn't fit in the space, so I got a side by side. I didn't think I would like it, but I LOVED it. It had a ton of bins on the door to keep things organized (including milk!) and it had 4 drawers. I wish we could have brought the fridge to this house. I hate the fridge in the new house. Stainless that shows every fingerprint and I swear I have to stand on my head to look inside the fridge.

Oh, you fortunate Divas who love your fridges! I think I'm a bit envious, since I absolutely HATE ours! We've had the icemaker repaired twice (and it still doesn't shut off when the tray is full), and we had to replace the computer (I had no idea that refrigerators run with computers now!) on the back, which was still less expensive than a new fridge. It's a side-by-side with what turned out to be the teeniest space possible on either side...now why didn't it look like that in the showroom?
