I just got the Sizzix Embosslit ornament die, and I'm a little confused about how to achieve the effect shown in the picture. When I run it through the Sidekick it cuts the ornament out cleanly and embosses the design. It appears that others get it to cut out the design as well. How do I that other than with scissors? Thanks, Terry

Terry can you post a link to the product you're talking about? I am not sure exactly which die you're using. But I do know that the Embosslits dies do exactly what you are describing - cut the outline, embossing the interior. But I'd like to see the picture you're referring to...

okay great, that was my guess, but didn't want to start talking about "green edges" if I was wrong - LOL! So the die cut the outline of the ornament, and then embossed the edge outline, and the asterisk looking design in the center. Right? And then they have apparently added the little silver bling to the design. My hunch is that the embossed edges and design in the center have either been wiped with ink, or sanded to reveal a different colored core of cardstock. It's awesome because it's a one-step design...one pass through your machine, with just one color of cardstock, and you get the detail from the embossing. that is how a Embosslit works - cuts outline, embosses details. But you could always find another shape to layer of the top of the embossed detail, for an even more dimensional look... hope that helps Terry!!!

Okay, I thought it was also cutting out that interior design for layering. How do they sand so smoothly? Here's my tag--I think the ornament needs more definition. Thanks for the help!

I'm with Susan on how they achieved that look. But it looks so perfect--I think that's what makes it confusing. But here is a video on using the embosslits. You could try emailing Sizzix and asking how they got the look. Maybe there's something that we're missing?

I was reading the instructions on how this person made this card. Maybe this would help. Seems she used a brayer to apply paint to the design.
