I don't know what was wrong with me on Saturday. Went to a crop that I was looking forward to and seem to leave every important thing at home. My corner rounder punch, memento ink and for some reason I thought I had a bunch of pages done and just needed to add titles and embellies..but lo and behold I was needing to finish them and of course I didn't bring paper with me to do that..ugh..and to top it all off I was trying to emboss a card in my GC and for some stupid reason I had the wrong damn plate and of course broke 3 teeth off in the gears..ugh! So my dh said it will still work but skip every now and then..so frustrating..so mad at myself..going I did this before why did it break..then as I am putting stuff away I see I had the wrong plate..so should have used the thinner one...ugh..
But I guess that made me wonder about buying the Vagabond. And of course this would replace my GC but do any of you divas (and I am sure you do) know the width of the cutting surface. In other words can I cut my Grand Nestabilities in that machine?

oh bummer that you broke your Grand Calibur! So sorry! The Vagabond is exactly 6" wide - so the largest of the Grands won't fit through - sorry to say. Hope you figure out a replacement, I do love my Vagabond, but as far as your Grand Nesties go, you'd have to find something else to use those on!

In other words can I cut my Grand Nestabilities in that machine? Sheesh! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm going to have to tell you that you can't cut the largest of your Grand Nestablilities in the Vagabond. The cutting plate for the V. is only 6 inches wide (just like the Big Shot or the QK Epic.). I'm so sorry...

Oh, Leslie - what a total bummer!!! What about doing this - save your crippled GC just for the Grand Nesties... Get a Vagabond for everything else, that way you GC should be able to limp along for a good long while. OR: Have you contacted SB to see if they have gears for sale - maybe DH could replace the broken one??? I have both, and use the V for everything that will fit, and use the GC just for the big dies. Sorry you wound up having a Scrappy Nightmare on Saturday, Hope things are going better for you today!! Gail

That is what I am thinking of. I haven't tested the slippage yet to see how bad it is. But I am thinking maybe at a minimum of putting it on my Christmas List. I am still waiting on my dh to build me some additional cabinets and a window seat so was thinking of reorganzing my room then and would have the dedicated counter space to leave the Vagabond open. But right now I am pretty situated with the cuttlebug and GC sitting side by side next to me. Easy to get to but they are light enough to pull over and use when I need them.

Oh, you had a yucky day, didn't you? I hate days like that. I'm normally pretty put together, but every now and then I have one of those days where I wonder why I even bothered getting out of bed. But it sounds like Gail has a good solution. Look at this as a chance to get the V and then let your GC limp along with the large dies. But contact SB--they may have a solution for the gears.

What a bummer, Leslie!! I'm with the other gals-sounds like time to buy a Vagabond and hang onto the GC for the biggies! Still check about getting a new part though, either way!

I've been thinking. My mom used to "break" things when she wanted something new. Maybe you are just channeling her! I'll never forget the day she took apart the washing machine. Now realize, this woman didn't even mow the lawn, much less put gas in the mower. And she was going to fix the washing machine? The poor repair man--he couldn't fix it and mom got a new washer and dryer out of the deal. She did that with the vacuum, too. Yep, a new vacuum. Leslie, is this your new "Fix it Plan?"

Michelle that is exactly what my friend said to me..you just want to buy something else don't you.. She knows me too well. Well I put the Vagabond on my Christmas List..which means one way or the other I will end up with it. Off to email Spellbinders..but maybe I should ask DH since he already looked at if if I was able to actually get a new gear whether it could be replaced or not. I plan to try and use it tonight..if it's really bad I may have to just buy a new one assuming it can't be replaced. Hate doing that because you know the minute I do that something bigger and better will be out. PS - Thanks for all the Love girls..I definitely was struggling Sat.

Oh my I think I would have just sat there and chatted after the way your crop started. Sorry you had such a bad day. I debated on a Vagabond for a long time. I like the electric part a lot, but it will not cut my Grand nesties. So I broke down and bought a Big Shot Pro. So far I have not found a die that I can not cut and it is so easy to use. Now I just need to find a new home for my Revolution. It is just sitting on the shelf looking so lonely.
