Remember: Dogs and cats are better than children because they: 1. Eat less. 2. Usually come when called. 3. Are easier to train. 4. Don't ask for money all the time. 5. Don't drink or smoke. 6. Don't hang out with friends who use drugs. 7. Never ask to drive the car. 8. Don't have to have the latest fashions. 9. Don't want to wear your clothes. 10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and 11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children

Leslie, I'm not sure about #4! I think we are into Emma for over $2,000 for the month of June. And I thought that Sandy and all of her meds were expensive! But then, most of Emma's costs are one time events. Do you know how much a crate for a big dog costs? !!! And both her 8 week and 12 week shots fell in the month of June. Another $$$. Good thing she's cute!

LOL. Although we used to have a St. Bernard, and that big boy ate more than both my DDs combined! And some of our furniture!

ohhhhh - St. Bernards!!!!! We have a St. Bernard, Benny, who lives over our back fence. When our Mac is outside in the back, Benny jumps up to see over the 6' tall cinder block wall! You'l be standing in the backyard and all of a sudden "pop" Benny's gigantic head will appear over the wall. It's HILARIOUS!
He is the most gentle, and sweetest dog ever! But man is that dog huge! And he thinks he's a lap dog!!!!
TOO FUNNY!

Susan, I'm just imagining that poor dog with all that fur in the AZ heat! For some reason, that just strikes me as hot! Maybe because it's so incredibly hot here. 98 when I was at Target this morning. At 10 am!

hahahaha - Michelle you are making a big assumption there! that being that Mac goes outside! LOL - trust me, I am outside more than he is!! he runs out - does his "bidness" - and then races back inside before I have a chance to close the door! come nighttime though, he likes to loll around outside, under the cover of darkness so I can't see him....it's the only time it's cool enough to stand on the patio barefoot, and I can't scan the corners of the yard well enough to track him down! hee hee!

Susan, not Mac! The St. Bernard! I just can't picture him (St. Bernard) without snow and ice. Which sounds lovely right now. (Maybe I should stir up some of my old complaints about the Boston winters?) But could you tell me about how you got Mac to be so smart? It's just sweltering here and Emma wants to hang out in the yard when she does her "business." (We use that word, too!) I know she's hot--she comes in and lays right over the A/C vent with her bare little puppy tummy. I feel like a bad mama because I know after two weeks of vacation and playing in the lakes and rivers, she's feeling cooped up. But it's too hot to breathe outside right now!
