Can't believe how quickly the 4th will be here!! What are you planning for the holiday?? Kinda tough this year, cause it's smack in the middle of the week, but Keith's office is closed Thurs and Fri, so we're both taking a LONG weekend. We may just hunker down at home and enjoy barbequing on the deck. Since we live in a resort area, it's usually best not to brave the traffic! If the weather's lousy, I'll probably spend some time scrapping!! ;D So, how are you going to have fun this year?? Gail

oh let's see - let me take a peek at the ol' calendar and see what the lime green notes are for that week... Die-Versions release, school board meeting, campaign general meeting, neighborhood bbq, decorations for said neighborhood bbq, BUNCO, daughter's Statistics final, son's final week of basketball camp, basketball tournament, hubby preparing for trip the following week, graphic design project deadline for my father's company, nephew's birthday package to mail, late night trip to airport to pick up neighbor, tree trimming for uncontained trash pick-up, haircut, and finally - daughter's wisdom teeth extraction on Friday. not much really...it's a pretty slow week!! either THAT or I'll move everything except the DV release and the wisdom tooth to the following week and tell my boss I'm taking the holiday week off!!!

Sooooo.........Susan! What are you going to do with all that EXTRA time on your hands? DV release? ? Like Gail and DH, we're staying quietly here at home, barbecuing in our back yard, and maybe see some of the fireworks off in the distance at the local fairgrounds. As a side note...we're having about 20 people over tonight for pizza, etc. We were thinking we'd be outside, but at the moment it's sprinkling, and it's barely 65 degrees outside. I can't wait to see pizza on our carpet! ;D ;D ;D Have a good weekend, everyone!

Wow, Diane - 65 degrees??? It was 98 earlier this afternoon, but a cold front came in - now it's 74 with mega-thunderstorms... Good luck with your party, hon! Hope you can squeeze everyone inside!! Susan - you really need to clone yourself, Missy!! I'm exhausted just reading your list.... Perhaps you should ask "the boss" for the week off?? I really think you've earned it!! Gail P.S. Die-Versions release - Yippee!!! I've got my fingers crossed for some new fonts - pretty please???

I'll spend the day making cards.....well that's my plans for now. (Hubby usually has to work on the 4th ......temps are hot, hot, hot and those crops need water.) Lately our plans seem to change more often than not. Cat

BBQ and scrapping sounds like the best plan to me - by far!!! Luckily, most of the things on my list are really for the other members of my family. Thank goodness I don't have to play in the basketball tournament {just drive}, and I'm grateful I don't have to study for the Stats final {just quiz her}, and I'm pretty sure hubby can pack for himself {I just need to have the laundry done}. I am only required to have DV release ready to go {YES! July 1st release!!}, finish my father's big project and show up to get my haircut! LOL So crafting and BBQing definitely will be going on here!!

Susan, you really are taking it easy, aren't you? We are leaving for Minnesota on Thursday. We will be up in Voyageur's National Park on the MN/Canadian border over the 4th. The kids will probably drive the 4 wheelers in the parade. There will be fishing and swimming and we will have a memorial for Sandy at our favorite island and scatter her ashes. We had planned to drive through Duluth on our way back down to the Cities, but that plan may get scrapped due to the flooding. DH's parents will be in town, along with our siblings and extended family. It's just a nice time.

Well this is my last week at work and then I hit a stretch of much needed vacation. Normally we head to Oregon to visit the in-laws and celebrate dh's birthday (July 5th) but he is saving his vaca for a hunting trip towards the end of the summer so I guess I will just be staying home alone forced to scrap and bake...poor me {sniff...sniff)
Planning a bbq for the 4th with family, probably add the birthday celebration in there while I am at it. So have birthday shopping and party supply making and cooking to prep for. Kind of excited because believe it or not I haven't celebrated the 4th at home for almost 20 years.

Leslie, that's my DH's birthday issue, too. Except that his is in August and we are usually in MN then. But with scout camp and the football schedule, we are now June/early July vacationers.
It's been years since we've been Up North for the 4th. DD and I bought candy for the parade yesterday. One of the resorts has a big pot luck and another sets off fireworks. It's going to be fun!

We will be celebrating Pat's birthday on July 4th. She is taking the Thursday and Friday off.
We are doing deck, pool, deck. Exploring the Farmers Market, a little BBQ'ing and watch the fantastic firworks display here in Mebane. They put on quite the show and it is right around the corner from our house.

@susan.....I am exhausted just reading your 'chore' list!! But it sounds like a happy list, for sure! Like many of you, we are doing the holiday stuff....we saw a Phillies game this week with the most fabulous fireworks I've ever seen. We will go to a local fair on Tues. for the hot air balloon glow and some good eats and music. On Wed. we will be in our DD's pool! It has been in the 90s here for a few days and expected to stay up there all week.....too hot for me! We will also be going to the Kutztown Folk Festival, a German celebration of food, fun and crafty stuff. We go every year, and it seems to be the start of this fair that brings the hot weather to PA. After all this, I will crash for a week!

We don't have a pool, and most years, I'm fine with that... This year, I really have pool envy!! Stay cool, everyone! Gail

While it's not as hot as it was last year at this time it's plenty hot. I think I might have a permanent brand on my backside. I didn't realize how hot leather seats in a car can get... WOW!!!..and the STEERING WHEEL... DOUBLE WOW!!!!! I won't be jumping right in after work anytime soon. (late Fall I'm thinking) Our plans haven't changed.....cardmaking for me and service calls for Hubby. Stay Cool Ladies! Cat

I've heard there's too much plot with Magic Mike and not enough "dancing." DH and I went out for our anniversary last night and I joked with him that we should go see MM. But we went to a little restaurant in Waverly, MN. That was good, too!
