Hey there everyone. My sister is having a baby and we want to have a Gender Revealing Party. So my question to you is how to reveal the big news???
I have seen the one where the couple cuts into a cake and the inside is blue ore pink.
The other is a box filled with balloons of the same colors. When they open the box the balloons fly into the air- that is my favorite so far.
I just want to know it there are any other ideas out there?

That's awesome Cindy congrats to your sister! I like the cake idea, once you slice into it you can't help but notice at that point. I myself would decorate on the outside plain and simply with nothing to give it away and then when they walk into the room explode it with the colors of either pink or blue! Talk about color overload!!! Good luck!

Congrats to your sister, Cindy! My cousin & his wife just did the box/balloons thing this week. A friend did this for both of them and they found out at the same time.... that it was a boy! They BOTH loved the process!! Make sure there's someone there to take pics for them when the reveal happens!
Have fun!!

I am expecting too and I love that idea. I had a friend that just made her baby reveal baby shower and even thought was really cool, that blue cake was disgusting lol. I think that if you are having a girl is all good, but if she is having a boy, tell her to please do the balloons lol, or at least something like a boy figurine that she can pull from the cake (like a Victorian wedding) or something.

Thanks for the heads up Virginia!! If she does the cake and its a boy I will convince her to do blue frosting inside instead of blue cake LOL She is leaning toward the balloons idea anyway because her friend apparently did the cake thing just a few months ago for hers. I am going to make the paper decorating (pennant banner, cupcake wraps, straw flags, etc) so I will post some pics later. It is sort of last minute so I need to get on it!! Cindy

Another scrapping friend just did this. She is the grandma-to-be, and the hospital tech gave her the baby's sex in a sealed envelope, so that NO ONE knew it. She took it directly to the bakery and told them to open it, and then make the cake colored inside, with yellow outside. This must be a new 'trend' because I had never heard of it before. You must all be so excited!!! I like the balloon idea, too!

Pretty much the only thing I have heard of is the cake or cupcake with frosting inside. You can extend on that pie (raspberry or strawberry for girl and blueberry for a boy), or Do filled cookies or even ice cream (bubblegum pink for a girl and a blue one for a boy)
I read somewhere that someone took black balloons and filled with colored confetti then had the guest pop the balloons. You could have pink and blue..then have the guests who think it's girl take pink and those that think it's a boy take blue..then when they pop they can find out who was right and who was wrong..that's about all I have..how exciting for your sister and congrats!
