WHAT A TRIP...

Hi everyone!!!! Thought I better pop in a say hey since I've been sort-of scarce lately.

I left AZ last Thursday, heading back to college with my daughter AND her boyfriend. It was a great trip - really really LONG with tons of road construction {TONS!!} and some horrible wind all the way through New Mexico - made 940 miles on the first day, and I drove all but an hour of it.

The next day we did almost 700! It about did me in, either I"m getting older or this body is just giving out!!!! It's taken me almost 2 days to recover! OH - but the morning after we arrived we had dormitory move-in!!!! Oh the trips up and down the elevator and the stairs - boxes in and boxes out!!! By Saturday afternoon when my daughter went to start band tryouts I was about to cry! EXHAUSTED!

I laid low Sunday, and let her spend most of the day at tryouts without me. No pictures, no good luck waves, no momma! I could hardly move Sunday morning. But come mid-afternoon, I couldn't stay away! Stadium, humidity, other parents, sunshine, sun reflections, sunscreen, sunglasses - we had it all!!!

BUT SHE MADE THE MARCHING BAND!! So I figure it was all worth it - right? It's a mom's job??!!!! RIGHT!!!

This morning I discovered the blog had not auto-posted - DRAT - there goes my best laid plans! HAH! Got that all fixed, and now I"m a day behind - to my Design Team MY APOLOGIES!!! I was trying so hard to stay on task, and stay up to date with the calendar and the posting - but like I said...best laid plans PHOOEY!!

So I'll be here the rest of the week - heading back him on Sunday morning - all by myself, the long 1600 miles. But I think I will do it in 3 days this time. My mother freaks out when I"m alone in the car for that long, and hubby will just call me every 60 minutes - which will drive me crazy. So about 500 miles a day will be enough for my trip home!

SO - this week I will do my best to stay up to date on the blog, and check in on what's going on over here on the boards...but if I am spotty- or seem to be scarce - it's because I'm a weenie, and I'm probably napping somewhere!

{Or cursing the fact that I"m working on my laptop instead of my big mac-daddy monitors at home! HAHAH}

Check out the blog today - the post from Thursday and Friday finally got posted. The girls are doing an amazing job, and right now "use your stash" has me all inspired but I have NOTHING to work on. WAH!!!

As a former "marching band mom", I can understand how the tryouts affect the entire family!

I agree with Gail...you deserve some playtime!

Hey congrats to your DD, and I agree we get older and our bodies just start refusing to let us do what we want..enjoy the drive back and don't forget your favorite tunes and sing away..it helps you stay awake, that and 5 shots of espresso.

I'll be thinking about you as you travel home. I agree take 3 days . when I travel by myself and I get tired I pull over to a rest area and set my little alarm a snooze awhile. Then I take a walk and am refreshed again. So happy your daughter made the band team. she will have a great year. Deborah

You are missed, Susan, but I am so glad that you were able to take this road trip with DD and her boyfriend! Great way to get to know him better, huh? He can 't escape---LOL!!! That is a whole heck of a lot of miles....we just did 225 miles/4 hrs to CT and I had had enough....don't know HOW you could do that many miles in one day!!! God love you!
Take your time coming back, enjoy the last of the summer scenery and fresh air, and hit a few Starbucks along the way! We'll all be here when you get back!
