I'm hot, and I'm tired of being hot! I think I'm getting a cold! And I'm missing my girlie! So I'm poking around online {SL, Pinterest, Facebook} which usually leads to shopping. I need some scrappy mojo back! What do you all do to get your creative juices flowing??? I thought Pinterest would help but all I am now is hungry! HAHA I think I want to challenge myself. Like use a new die, or try out an old stamp. What do you all do? a nap sounds good...hahahha!!!!

A nap sounds like the best choice! (At least for me, at the moment, and it's barely 11:00 a.m. here!) It's too hot here, too...after all, aren't we officially in autumn now, and just days away from October? We're predicted to be around 100 degrees this weekend ...AAAAARRRRRRRRRGHHH! And to top it off, Aaron Rodgers is a "home town boy" (just see the Butte College cap that he often wears), so the outcome of the Packers game is not making the locals happy!

Sleepy here too and hot sometimes some new paper can help or a freshly printed pack of photos?? When I am stumped for inspiration I usually switch hobbies, like lately I have been sewing and so now I am itching to cut up some paper I hope you get your mojo back soon Cindy

sometimes you just have to walk away. If I am gone for 3 days to Iowa to see my children and grandchildren. I use no computer, I go to no scrapbook stores, etc. I just empty my mind. When I get home I can't wait to get into my scrap room. I t was so hot here this summer I just wanted to be in the cool. Now that Fall is here I finally want to go outside. We planned a 3 day trip to go see the colors and to see a Civil War Reinactment this weekend so I will be ready to scrap next week. Susan you can get burned out. I know I have at times. Take a break and hope your mojo comes back real soon. Deborah

It's tough to overcome a lack of inspiration. If there's no deadline for a project, like the rest of you, I just walk away for awhile. A few hours of cleaning house definitely gives me the urge to scrap!! Playing with my supplies, without a goal in mind helps, too. Trying out a new technique, using a new die, a new PP or tool will often lead to pieces I can use in a card or page. By telling myself I'm "just playing", the pressure is off, and if I make a "mistake" - who cares?? If a deadline is looming, I'll thumb through scrapping or stamping magazines, my notebook of Starting Blox sketches, Pinterest, or crafting blogs. It's like some of that creativity rubs off on me! Insomnia often gives me the best ideas - when I can't sleep I lie in bed and design projects in my mind. Know it sounds weird, but it works for me!! I either fall asleep, or come up with some ideas - a win/win! ;D Hope this helps, Susan!! Gail

I either fall asleep, or come up with some ideas - a win/win! ;D Gail This is the way I get some of my better ideas, too! Also, walking away from one project, and working on/finishing something that's already "in progress" helps me. (It seems that I always have 2 or 3 projects going at the same time! )

Oh, Susan, sorry to hear you are in a funk. You have lots of great advice here already! Like others, I also sometimes have to step away from scrapping and just take a break. Sometimes the brain just burns out. During the time "away" from scrapping, I often will clean and purge in my scraproom, finding things I forgot I had that give me a little urge to use it. I also rely on sketches when I am in a funk. I grab a cute sketch, find photos to fit it, and my fave scrap papers......and usually I can make something that I like and feel good again! Like Gail mentioned, I also will work on something that is 'new' for me, like making a mini album, taking an online class, or lifting an idea that I have seen. I also scrap for a Disney blog, which seems to lift my spirits as well!
And re: missing your daughter, I hear you! I have two DDs, and I so missed them when they were far away at college. And my oldest now lives in California, so I DOUBLE hear you. I just keep focusing on the fact that letting them 'go' lets them grow smarter and stronger, and more independent, which is important to me---even though I hate that they are gone!! Does that even make sense??? It won't be long before your DD is home for break!! And it will be such a delicious and fun time for both of you!

good stuff ladies! Thanks for the suggestions! I think right now my biggest problem is just the heat! I have a huge bay window in my scrap room so all summer long the room darkening shades are down to keep it dark and cool. But then I am in the dark all day. I can't WAIT to open the screes, put up the shades and let fresh air in!!!! this heat is just horrible this year. Predicting 106 on Sunday and Monday - BLECK!!!! I'm tired of being in tank tops and bare feet and sweaty! I want socks on and a sweatshirt!! I drug my Copics out this morning, haven't colored in a while so I thought I'd give it a go. Coloring my newest little witch from "Little Darlings" - and I"m challenging myself to NOT use lime green!!! off to fill up my iced tea and kick the fan up a notch! LOL

Ugh, I've got got no mojo either. I had a friend over last weekend and I got my Halloween cards done, but that is just 40 of the same thing so I can't say that I really got some mojo.

I hate it my mojo wimps out on me. I usually flip through my "Cards" magazine, visit Scrapyland & Die-Versions blogs or visit my cards board on pinterest for inspiration. But lately I have watched and looked at lots of tutorials. Like Gail, I do a lot of designing when I can't sleep. I seem to get all my best ideas in the middle of the night when everyone else is sleeping. Of course a nap is always needed around here. Cat

Same here. Though I ended up walking away from scrapooking, permenantly. I now just make cards and occassionally I buy an all inclusive kit and make a mini album or a home decor project. I don't blog, have posted less than ten times this year between the two boards, and can't remember the last thing I bought (other than adhesive). It just is not a hobby that I stayed interested in. I am into belly dance and tarot cards these days. So we shall see....
I am working on Halloween cards though.. about 16 cards, and tweleve tags to go with the homemade cookies. Hope you all are well.

Jenn, its great to hear from you again! I think most of us have had similar experiences to yours, and move from craft to craft. The important thing if you're a creative person (and I sense that you are) is that you have an outlet for that creativity. Who knows, maybe you"ll have the urge to scrap again, or maybe not. As long as what you're doing is fun and rewarding for you, that's all that counts!! Gail

Jenn, I'm glad to hear from you too! I'm glad you are still card making and hopefully will visit the MB often. I've heard bellydancing is very good excerise! I've had problems with my internet so I haven't done a lot on the MB lately. I keep losing my messages before I get through and finally give up.....football must be keeping more people off today. Hope to see you more often Cat
