The area where I live is home to one of the largest US Naval bases in the world. Each year, many of the men and women in the Navy sacrifice holidays with their loved ones to remain deployed and ensure our safety. I've been approached by a local organization that provides Christmas care packages to deployed sailors, asking for homemade Christmas cards to include with the gifts. I plan to make several, but knowing the generous and caring nature of you wonderful scrappers on this board, thought some of you might be willing to participate. Do you have some leftover cards from last year?? Would you be willing to make a few extras this year?? The sailors, and I would appreciate whatever you are able to do! I need to get the cards in by Dec 1st, so there is time to get them sent out. Please help make Christmas on board ship a little bit merrier for those who sacrifice so much for us!! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!! Gail P.S. If you need my address, PM me. If you have envelopes to go with them, fine, if not, I'll take care of it. Thanks again, ladies!

This is a great idea, Gail!
Our LSS makes cards to donate to the military, all year-round. One of the requests that their organization makes is that the messages on the cards should be computer-generated (NO personal handwriting), since it may be upsetting to spouses of the men receiving the cards to see another woman's handwriting on them. Just a thought...

Cat and Diane, thanks for helping!! My understanding is that the group putting together the care packages will have a message to put in the cards... I'm just stamping a sentiment inside and leaving them unsigned, but I'll double-check with my sources!! Gail

Gail, that the way I've done cards for soldiers. Make card, stamp sentiment, mail cards to host, who passes them on to club, etc . Simple, easy, I have made 4 to 6 cards with the same design, and even made them where no 2 are alike so you might let us know which way they would prefer. All different or same ---- I really excited about this project!!!! Cat

Also, please do not use glitter, that can get on their clothes and reflect at night
