hey ladies, I know a bunch of you are on Pinterest - I am too. But I'm curious to know how you're "using" it?!?! Do you just glance through your Pinterest boards to get visual inspiration, or do you hit all of the links you've pinned to read more, learn more, be inspired further? I all about the eye candy effect, I think. I just like seeing an entire screen full of sentiments, color combos, seasonal ideas, etc. and then I go from there! But then there is the food board! ACK! I have printed off more recipes than I care to admit to .... hahaha! What are you doing with Pinterest this holiday season?

Susan, I think mine is a little of both for me. I love looking at all the different cards I have pinned----some of them I'm curious as how the made some of the parts so I'll follow the link. Others I just admire the creative talent of the maker. Sometimes it the use of the colors on the card or its the design. Other times its the whole thing. Some of my other boards are just because it's something I like---eye candy. Other boards like my yummy board is because I would like to try some of the recipes. I have a couple of boards I created for other people.1 Decorating ideas for weddings & receptions----even some ideas for people on a tight budget. 2. Decorating for bridal, baby, house warming, and etc. showers. My vintage board is plain old eye candy filled with memories. The vintage Christmas cards I been pinning lately is in memory of my Great-Grandmother. She spent hours sharing her boot box full of beautiful handmade cards and a few store bought cards with a curious green-eyed, dark haired little girl. She taught that little girl to admire the talents of others and to appreciate the work put into handcrafted works of arts. Handmade cards, lace, quilts, embroidery, crochet, wood-craving/ wood-work and etc. That little girl is a 59 yr old woman who still looks at handcrafted works of art with the same wonder and admiring eyes and feels blessed that someone is sharing their wonderful talents with her. Cat PS That woman still has enough of that little girl in her she loves making cards for others.

Cat, I LOVE looking at the vintage cards you've been pinning! Don't know where you find all this stuff, but I'm glad you do!! Susan, I use my Cute Cards, Craftiness, and Pages boards as a place to stash ideas I might want to use later... Like Cat, sometimes it's the color scheme, general design, or a clever idea I want to remember. Other times it's just the gorgeousness of the whole thing, even though I wouldn't take the time to try and replicate it! Sometimes I follow the link, especially for recipes and tutorials. I generally don't for cards and projects that are pretty self explanatory. If I'm finding a lot of things I like coming from one source, I'll usually explore the link, and will bookmark the blog or site if I like their style. I've got a lot of holiday decorating ideas pinned, but doubt I'll have time to do much with them! For the most part, Pinterest works for me a lot like my subscription to Gourmet magazine did. I'd read through it from cover to cover, but doubt that I made more than 10 recipes from it in the 10 or more years I subscribed! BUT, I got a feel for cooking methods, flavor combinations, and presentation that inform my cooking to this day. The ideas on Pinterest seep into my brain, marinate there, and little bits and pieces come out to, I think, make my work better, and more importantly shove me a little out of my usual style zone into something new. I hope that makes sense - it's hard to describe! Anyway, there's no better "waste of time" anywhere!! Gail

It is the same for me as for the rest of you. I love looking at many, many different things!! My husband just rolls his eyes becaouse most of my conversations start "hey I saw this thing on Pinterest that I need to try..." I have made several page layouts from what I have seen there. I am planning a Christmas baby shower for Sister so decoration ideas and a couple games were discovered on Pinterest. I have made many desserts from recipes found there. Some have turned out great and others, not so much I have a fashion board but do not seem to be able to find those outfits anywhere in town It just seems to be a one stop spot for inspiration as well as eye candy. Its all good Cindy
