oh HOW FUN!!!!! I know what you're saying about cupcake wars - but I think the kitchen assistants and the convection ovens help them speed things along! on a side note about edible fun - I have to share the cake my daughter's sorority made this weekend. you all know about cake balls - right??? well they made one batch of white cake, and tinted very small batches like Cindy did below, but basically made it so each cupcake was a different color - red, orange yellow, lime green, purple, pink and blue. Maybe two cupcakes of each color - but that as the first stage. A pan of solid colored cupcakes, but all in different colors. then they mixed that cake with canned frosting, to make the cake balls. Awesome! Are you with me so far? LOL Then they mixed up another boxed cake mix - white this time too - but before pouring the mix into the three pans they laid the color cake balls around the bottom of the pan. Pour the cake mix over the cake balls...and bake. Layer the cake together, with white frosting, three layers tall, and white sprinkles and sparkles on top. Can you see what's going to happen here? ....... When they cut the three layer cake - POLKA DOTTY CAKE!!!!! She said is was SO FUN and so darn cute! And I have to take her word for it because...SHE FORGOT to take pictures {I have failed as a mother}. So Cindy you are correct - I don't know how cupcake wars does it, because dear daughter said it took them all weekend to make this cake. HAHA!!! I hope your daddy loved his rainbow cakes and icing!!!! Good for you for taking pictures!!!! As for snow boots - sorry, can't help you there!!!

Wow 40 cupcakes is a lot, I bet your dad enjoyed these. They are so pretty. I played birthday hostess and only baked 2 cakes.... Then we went to see Jim Belushi at the Comedy Club (I am proud to say my dh renovated the club years ago from a movie theater) and got to clean my crafty room Sunday and started a layout.

Those cupcakes look yummy! And they ARE paper related: you used paper cupcake liners, right?
I don't watch the cake wars, so can't be any help......the way I bake, would probably take me 8 hours and 3 batches to create your masterpieces. Glad you Dad enjoyed them.
Color must have been on the mind this weekend....took the grandkids to the Crayola Factory. Actually made some art myself!!!
