I have been crafting with the thin dies (e.g. spellbinders) for three years now without any problems. But last fall I discovered that my Cuttlebug would also cut with Sizzix dies and so I bought several. When I received the Sizzix Pop 'n Cuts Magnetic Insert Die - Label, 3-D I couldn't wait to try it out even though I didn't have the required magnetic plate . I figured that all I needed to do was shim it to the right cutting height and so I ran it through shimming with heavy cardstock, a metal shim and the Spellbinders Magnetic Mat. Unfortunately I placed the magnetic mat below the die instead of under the metal shim and the cutting blades stuck right into the mat. That is because of the pressure they went right through the back of die and are now protruding out of the back. Has anyone experienced such a thing? How would I fix/repair the die? Can I use it at all? I didn't want to run it again for fear of doing more damage...just in case it was repairable in some way. Looking forward to any help anyone can give me.

First off just want to say I feel your pain..I broke my Spellbinder tool once and ugh..could not be fixed since the gear teeth broke. As far as your die if I read correctly the die cut through the magnetic mat? I would think your die still might be good once you remove the mat. They are tougher than you think.

Thanks for your reply. No, that's not the case...I would have just removed the mat and tested the dye to see if it survived. Because of the pressure against the sandwich that I used, the steel rule blades were pushed backwards and are stuck protruding out of the back.

O Joanne, what a pity! When you can get it fixed (I hope so, but I don't know how you can do it): I also bought the Sizzix Pop 'n Cuts Magnetic Insert Die. I only have the Cuttlebug. I didn't use the A-plate, my sandwich: C-plate - die - paper - B-plate and some cardstock on top to get the good thickness. This works for me. Success!!

Ok, well guess I am worthless without a picture..maybe you could call Sizzix and see what they say. I have called them before and found them to be very helpful.
