a loss of a pet do you adopt a new one? My poor little kitty of 18 years had to be put to rest a few weeks back and while I know getting a new kitty would never replace her I just can't help but feel that having a new kitty to love would help me with some of my sorrow.
I think my dh wants to wait a bit but trouble is we are at the end of kitty season (still cracks me up to know there is such a thing) and would have to wait all the way till next spring/summer if I didn't get one now which still seems kind of awkward to get one so soon.

Oh Leslie, I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved kitty!!! As a fellow Leslie/cat owner (owned by my Siamese & Tuxedo, that is!), I can totally sympathize! The last time we had a loss was about 13 years ago when my then young Siamese (a replacement for a previous cat)was hit by a car. No sooner had we buried that poor cat then my younger son turned to me (while I was still crying) and asked when were we going to get another kitty? We got his kitten at the Humane society (last one, so must have been at the end of the season-- who knew??), our Tuxedo. I have pretty much had a Siamese cat in my life since I can remember and within two months of getting the Tuxedo kitten, I knew I wanted another Siamese. He was a rescue cat & has been my cat from the day he jumped on my lap. I'd advise you to do what's best for your situation. I am glad I got both kitten & cat when I did.
My condolences to you!
Leslie/RocketCityUSA

Leslie, I am so sorry to read about your kitty! Our pets truly are members of our families.
Our 19-year-old Himalayan died in April, and we still see her "ghost" from time to time...we ask ourselves, "Did I close that door?",etc. My developmentally disabled daughter has a picture of her on her dresser, and is still nowhere near wanting a new cat. It's been tough...
I wish the best for you (and all cat lovers).

Leslie, my 9 year old German Shepherd died last November. I still miss her!! I do not want to get another dog because her death was hard for me. Our 5 year old Shepherd misses her too. He seems sad and lonely, he has lost weight. I try to spend as much time with him as possible but he lives outside and I work full time. I need to get him a friend. Cindy

Thanks ladies. I am trying to convince my dh it's time. It seems so soon but honestly everything reminds me of her and I think I need that distraction in my life. Hopefully we can find a new kitten this weekend. I will share photos if we do.

I'm hoping you'll find a new kitty soon. And your grandchildren are probably old enough to give kitty his/her space while he/she is getting adjusted to the new home. Best of luck on the kitty search!

Well we did it, we found a new little kitty but heck if I can take a good enough photo of her to share. She is 2 months old and a bundle of energy that I can only dream about. My ds picked her out and has called her Houdini..because she tends to hide and seems to be pretty smart as she already has figured out to get in and out of a host of predicaments.
