Diane - love this idea, can't stand the way I have been storing mine, they are driving me nuts. I do have a question re: the 12" border dies since the magnetic sheet is 8.5x11 - to they just stick out an inch or? Thanks again for the great idea.

Okay - going back and COMPLETELY reading this thread, I see that you can get magnetic sheet 12x24, so cutting it in half would give me 2 - 12x12 sheets (see I CAN do math). Cropper Hopper carries 12x12 clear envelopes- like this: www.cropperhopper.com/paperfile.aspxI think this is the solution to my border dies. OR even a 12x12 clear paper envelope from the Dollar Store would work (and cheaper too, with a little room to get the magnetic sheet in and out.

I did not use magnetic sheets with my border dies - I cut legal size file folders down to fit it the cropper hoppper box / I just put them in the folder loose and put a labels on the front of the folder / name and number at the top and picture below it - I thought adding that many pages of magnet would just add to the weight

My apologies for not giving proper credit regarding the magnet sheets, I went back and looked again and unless my eyes are deceiving me (which they very well could be) I thought it was "Diane" that posted this idea.
I do not own enough cookie cutters border dies for it to get too heavy, just enough to drive me nuts when I am sorting through them and they get stuck on each other.

Yes - I was one who mentioned storing on magnetic sheets in the clear folders in the file boxes - I store my cookie cutter dies that way just not my borders -Diane

I do not have very many 12" border dies so I just place them diagonally in the 8.5x11 binder on the magnetic sheets. Cindy

Magnet sheet arrived today, cut it in half for 2 - 12x12 pieces, adhered it to cardstock and placed my QK border dies on it - works great. I am storing these in a Stor N Carry Slim Scrapbook Case that I found at J's - this is a perfect system for me, although I should have ordered two rolls of the magnet sheets. Guess I need to get more! Thank you for the great idea.

Bonnie, I'm glad that it worked out. I have a bunch of chip board and magnet sheets that I need to adhere together. I need a nice sunny day so that I can do it outside. I have some done and I really like the system. It's so easy to flip through the files and see what I have.

I saw a pretty cool idea on Pinterest and in the CK Scraproom Special Issue. Anyways the person got a 12x12 frame, took out the glass and instead of the cardboard backing, they put in a piece of magnetic paper and then adhered dies to it and hung the frams on their wall. I like that you can always see what dies you have. You dont have to fish around for them.
They also labeled the frames and kept the dies together by theme - Christmas, Baby, Fonts each had their own frame.
I might actually give it a try.
The only concern is dust. Right now my dies are in the magnetic folders and tins so no dust gets to them.

This is a fun idea if you have a lot of wall space or a small collection! Can you link the photo here?
What about one of those huge frames that you find at garage sales? AC Moore sells poster board sized sheets of magnets. Wouldn't that be fun to have hanging in your studio?!!

Ok, I will take a pic of the magazine with my phone and post it. Also going to post another idea using a shower/curtain rod and hooks

Ok here is an idea using a curtain rod. You could punch a hole in the magnetic sheet and use one of those circle clips to attach it to the rod. Attachments:

I've shown this before, but this is how I store my most used CC dies. I used carpet tape to put large magnetic sheets on the back of my sewing cabinet. The others are in the storage system that Diane (msumom) posted. I like having my dies visible, but I have way too many to keep out. Diane's system is genius!

After trying this and that, I finally found a system, that works for me. I would have loved the file folders but couldn't find matching folders, so I went with the Leitz signature book, but it got too heavy and bulky soon. Over Christmas I found videos for homemade storage books on Youtube and got mine completed this weekend. The base is thick chipboard, which I had cut to letter seize at a paper store. I covered it with old flowery scrapbook/wrapping paper and bound it with my Bind it All. You'll want to keep the number of pages under 10 even with the biggest o-wires to allow enough space for the dies. For holding the dies, I cut magnetic sheets in 1 cm wide strips. 3 or 4 hold a set of nesting dies or a box template perfectly, so this is much less heavy than a book with whole magnetic sheets (and cheaper too). One book holds my nesting shapes, one my bags & boxes and one my cardmaking dies. This works great cause I use the dies together and for different projects. Btw, I used Lady Liberty for the labels, love that font! I want to make books for my Grand Spellbinders too, but need to go back to the store to have the chipboard cut to a different seize. Here are some pictures: Thanks for looking!

Scrapkatze, this is a great idea!! What a pretty way to get organized. Thanks so much for sharing this project and the photos. I especially like using this for the Grand Calibur dies. I have them in magnetic storage books, but some of the dies are too big to fit, and this will be a nice solution. Gail P.S. I love Lady Liberty too!

Great storage idea, Scrapkatze. It is pretty and it works. I love organizing and being able to find things.
I had stored my shapes in sleeve protectors. It wasn't working for the nesting shapes. I picked up some magnetic sheets and organized this weekend. Everything is in its place and it stays. My OCD heart is very happy!

It must be the week for reorganization. I spent the week refining my CC die storage, getting the labels all put onto my 2x2 and 4x4 dies, and organizing paper. Now I'm trying to purge some paper. It hard, because I look at the paper and see a great project. That's why I bought the stuff to begin with!

I was just at the office supply store today getting more labels to finish putting the pictures on the dies and getting more CD sleeves to put them in
