I just heard on a stamping message board I'm on that "Copic is increasing their prices on Jan. 1, they don't know exactly how much yet but rumor has it that it will be $1.00/marker!" If anyone knows that this is not true please correct me! I'm not sure if this is true, but a number of people confirmed hearing this as well. I just thought that Cyber Monday is a good day to pick up a few given Dani's great prices & this info. smiles, susie

Wow! That a lot of money for a marker. Didn't they just go up in August?
I wonder if it's because they are so popular? Or because Mike's is now selling them and they want to mark them up because of coupon use?

Yes they did just go up..very odd to have them do it again so soon. You know I still don't find them at any Mike's in my area at all. But honestly even with a coupon how could you limit yourself to just one? I love Dani's prices..and when you buy 4-5 or more it is such a great deal.

Our michael's have a few but very limited and I would not want to buy them. too many people like to open them and check the colors. I have seen them do it there and in other stores that have them. when I buy from Dani I know they have not been used by anyone. Deborha

We got an email from them letting us know they will raise the wholesale price to online stores by A LOT to make sure we cant discount the markers. This will force online retailers to charge more for the markers. I dont think they are changing the MSRP. I am not sure if I will continue to carry Copic after this goes into effect. I guess I'll wait it out and see how the market adjusts itself.

Boo on them. Don't they realize that retailers like Scrapyland are a good part of why they have become so popular? Really, who ever heard of them before the scrappers and card makers started using them? Just the real artists. (And I do not include myself in that category!)
If they were smart, I think they should lower the price a bit and exclude them from coupon use. Cricut does it with the M's coupons--why not Copic?
And I agree with Deborah--I would never buy them at M's unless it was in a sealed pkg. The entire area is marked up where people try the markers out. Ugh.

Oh, shoot!! Why would Copic care if Dani is willing to sell their markers at a lower price?? As Michelle says, that's how they became so popular, and they sell more markers that way!! I agree about not buying at M's - their markers always look well-used, and who wants to pay MSRP for a dried out marker?? What will I do if Dani stops carrying them, now that I'm hooked??!! Gail

Gail I'm hooked too......with no place to purchase these little "jewels" if SL stops selling them.....I love my Copics. Dani I'm willing to pay more if that's what it takes for you keep handling them. (I agree they are expense now; and I'll have to cut back somewhere else to afford them; but I willing to just to be able to get them here) SL has become my one stop shopping since I discover it. I even get my paper here since the local Scrapping store closed a few months back. (I bought most of my paper there; sure was glad Dani had started to carry more paper since they closed) Cat

Yes, our M's carries them, but I never, ever, buy pens there, because I want to be the first person using them!

Wow - Shame on Copics for taking advantage of their popularity. I'd boycott them but I'm an addict and I have a lot of them already. Dani should know I buy them only from him. I'm w/ Cat I'll keep buying them from you as well Dani at least we're guaranteed an unused marker and please don't stop carrying the refills I have so many pens already I can't afford to go anywhere else.

Dani, you can't stop carrying these! I just got the den set up today with colors of distress inks, copic colors, felt colors, etc that I have. That way if I'm putting in an order, I can just add an item or two to the cart. It's not that much more and I can build up my stash that way!
And I'll second how grateful I am that ScrapyLand is carrying so much paper. I hardly buy paper anywhere anymore except here. It's just so easy and I get all the sheets in the collection. I love that! And I'm in love with the 6x6 and 8x8 paper pads. They are just perfect to grab and put together a card. Everything coordinates and it just goes together so easily.

Our last local stamp store gave up carrying Copics long ago. Dani is my source. My computer wouldn't know what to do if I didn't buy my Copics from ScrapyLand! It is programed into the hard drive! I don't understand the reasoning of these vendors... ScrapyLand is the best! I sure hope the higher ups at Copic reconsider this decision:-) Maybe we should call them directly and share our thoughts with them.

I don't know where they expect us to go to find the retailers carrying copics. Now the Super Scrapbook in Madison WI is closing . That leaves only Archivers in Madison. That is over an hour from me. Milwaukee WI has one store and that is one hour the other way from me. In Iowa where I came from they have only 6 scrapbook stores left and 3 are in the State capitol in Des Moines Iowa.. I have to shop online as everything around me has closed. They must have some mega markets out west or east because the midwest doesn't have any. Deborah

I'm with you ladies! I'd definitely be willing to pay more if Dani will keep carrying them - especially the refills!! My LSS still carries them, but their selection isn't as good, and they now have them behind the register (I assume because theft was an issue with items this small). and of course, their prices are higher... And I'm with you on the paper issue, too! Dani carries my favorite lines. My LSS does, too, but unless you get there in the first day or two after it arrives, the good stuff is gone! Thanks, Dani, and I sure hope you don't stop carrying Copics!! Could you at least do them as special orders?? Gail

Any stores I've been to have carried them behind the counter and charge up to $7/pen!! Robbery!!
I hope you are still able to carry them...

at the price they want to bump us to, sketches will have to be sold very close to the $7 while CIAO will have to be very close to the $5 MSRP. It will be interesting to see how the customers will adjust to being obligated to pay $7 for a marker.

:-/While I not happy with the people who make Copics for the price increase they are forcing on you and causing you to have to go up; I'm more than willing to give you my Copic money. We can't get them cheaper any where else and be guaranteed they aren't used up or dried out. The only Copic I brought at brick and mortar store was the Sketch Blender Pen (you were out and I wanted to use the Copics I had just got from SL).....it seemed to be okay; the tips weren't messed up and it seemed to have fluid ( which I was really concerned about because the area was all marked up and even had Copics with missing tops.....I even asked if they had some in the back or behind the counter where the public had used them...the answer was NO)......I used it in about a 1 square inch area....Empty EMPTY EMPTY and I had spent more than twice SL price. I tried to take it back the next day.....I was told they had no way of knowing if I had used it all or I bought it that way. So I came home and ordered the refill from SL and waited to do my coloring. I hope you do have enough customers willing to pay the price to justify you carrying Copics. I know that most of the people who commented on this thread have seen or experience the same as I did at the brick and mortar store. the Copics makers ScrapyLand Your(Dani's) customer service Thank You Dani!!! Cat PS Dani feel free to share my comments with your Copic source if you want.....maybe if they realize what kind of care the brick & mortar stores take of their products they will appreciate ScrapyLand and you more.

Oh-uh-uh! See Cat that's so wrong. Yeah, you used it that much in one night that you dried it out...I don't stink sooo. That's so wrong, shame on them. As for the price Dani - Michael's sells the sketch pen at $6.99ea, of course you can use whatever coupon that comes out on them but again you're not guaranteed an unused pen. I'd rather give you my Copic money and know that I'm guaranteed an unused item.

My Michael's doesn't carry Copics, or didn't when I bought the blender pen and I haven't checked since my other experience. It was the other big hobby store, but they would't let me use my coupon on the pen. It cost me $6.69 + tax and this was back when Dani first started carrying Copics....what? 2 plus yrs ago....I haven't looked at the prices since, but the area still looks just as bad. I WILL NOT BUY COPICS FROM THERE EVER EVER AGAIN!!! Cat

Okay, so I'm with everyone else on this one. I hesitate to admit it but I have pretty well stocked up on the pens and could probably live with never buying another one in the unfortunate event Dani stops carrying them--though I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. However, I would cry if I couldn't get refills here--I actually do not even know where else I would find refills. Aye, I don't even want to think about all the money I have invested in markers I might not be able to refill. (I think I need a smilie with its head buried in the sand here.) Don't get me wrong. I have a great collection of pens, but I would love to round out the collection even if it means paying more for them. Not only am I guaranteed an unused pen here, but I'm pretty sure HL & A's do not even carry the colors I am missing. I know M's is supposed to have Copics now, but with a source like Dani, I have not even looked to see if my local M's has them or not. Just my two cents...and another "boo, hiss" to the manufacturer. c

This irritates the begiggers out of me. I understand making a profit but running small business out of the market. Last I checked we need small business in America to get the economy moving. Oh maybe the government has been snowing us again? What a way to treat your vendors "Copic". Guess your getting to big for your britches.
Years ago there were markers using the same ink as the Copic markers in many stamping and scrapping stores with the name of "Trio". Guess what they priced themselves out of the industry by their price increase. My guess someone will reinvent the wheel in another 5 years or so. My "Trio"pens are still going strong thanks to their large refill tanks so I am set for awhile.

Ladies I have new storage for my Copics A CD storage case. DH made the dividers today. I love to carry my Copics anywhere I think I might have some time to color. ;)Yes; I'm as bad as the little kids with their colors and coloring books.....they keep me busy. This will make carrying them on my trips so much easier. Oh yes; let me introduce my crafting helper. He loves to watch everything I'm doing.
