Thanks for all the work on the last one Gail. I received mine some time ago but neglected to thank you and everyone else for the beautiful pages and receipies. My page sucked but the BBQ is very good. The receipe itself is velcroed so it can be removed, used, and stuck back in the book.
Just an FYI.

Barbara, I loved you page.....the Velcro idea is great and one I plan to borrow. My pages were some of the simplest scrapping I've done in a long while. I was challenged by a young woman at work to make and submit my pages without using all my " fancy expense tools" and a "bunch of fancy paper." A young single Mom (two young kiddos) was talking to me about scrapping. She wanted to start making cards and scrapbooking. She had just lost everything including her house and car to a house fire. (I know she barely makes ends meet) Even though she's lost all of her material thing she has the best attitude ever. Always smiling, teasing and hugs all round. She wanted to start scrapbooks for her son and daugther and make a few cards too. Well Miss Know-it-all Woman jumped her out and told her she didn't have the money to waste on crafting. It's a waste of time, money and a whole routine. Telling her you need all the fancy tools I have and she was stupid to even consider it. Then she started on me.....I quietly explained I started out with brown paper sacks, butcher's paper, Crayons, school scissor and Elmer's glue so you didn't "need" all my fancy tools. Well Missy KIAW said prove it!!! I did!!! Now the young Mom is scrapbooking, card making and making things she never had the nerve to try before. I believe with my whole heart and soul a person's work should be valued for what it is and the love put into it. Never Compared to anothers. I read and saved a little saying on Pinterest I love. It's something adout judging a fish about how well he can climb a tree and if you do; that fish will spend the rest of it life thinking it's stupid. Barbara, your page stands on its own and I love it! May Susan and I please share it? Cat

Barbara, your recipe is yummy! I love recipes that don't always take a gazillion ingredients and half the day to prepare (I leave those to DH! ) And I enjoy looking at pages that were made by the hands of those who I only know from the MB...it's like a real part of you is now in my home.

Cat, thank you for the inspiring story. I admit, I am a fancy kind of girl. The more complicated it is, the happier I am. However, simple is also lovely and I'm glad that you were able to inspire someone to craft even if they dont have all the fancy stuff. I'm always a little surprised when others feel the need to tell others how they should spend their free time and money.
I dont have a problem with anything that I participate in being posted on a blog or webpage.
Casunflower, I'm glad that you like the BBQ. I've served it at many parties and it's always been a hit. Easy for big parties.
The chocolate book has me a bit intimidated. I don't cook with chocolate very much, however, I do have a receipe or two I would be happy to share if we decide to do one.

Barbara, I loved your page - like Cat I was so impressed by your use of the Velcro, and the recipe looks just delish!! What I've seen from hosting these swaps is that no matter how simple or elaborate the scrapping is, I've picked up great ideas and inspiration from every single page! This is not some kind of contest. We are sharing our talents for cooking and scrapping with each other. Just as the recipes give us new ideas for the kitchen, the pages give us inspiration for our own pages, cards, and projects. Through these books, we get to "know" each other, though we've never met. This "culture" (I hate to use business-speak, but the word really fits here) of non-judgmental sharing and cooperation is why I am SO devoted to Scrapyland and this message board. I've lurked on other boards which are full of cattiness and snide remarks - who needs that!! We are all in this together, girls, and every one of us has things to teach and to learn. OK, getting off my soapbox now... sorry! Sign-Up for Chocolate should be posted here Tues or Wed. Diane and I have decided to expand the number of participants a bit to 15. So it'll be a limit of 1-2 pages per person to keep the finished book thin enough to fit the largest binding wire. Hope all of you are game to sign up!! And thanks for being willing to share your work! Happy weekend! Gail

Barbara, truth is I had got in the habit of using all my dies, stamps and other tools. We can do so much with our "stuff" and faster too. Oh I was AFRAID my pages were too "Plain Jane". No dies, stamps, lace or ribbon; oh my and this was for a project were everyone would be using all their great dies, stamps and bling. Then I thought if I lost all my "stuff' would I stop scrapping would I withdraw from the swap......the answer was "No" I'd do the best with what I had. Like everyone here my collection of "stuff" has accumulated over many years. (there's no way I could replace it all) Diane (Casunflower) said it better than I could, I love it because you and the other from the MB helped make it and now you are part of my home. A friend I have never met, but someone who loves scrapping and sharing part of themselves with others too. Cat

Barbara, I certainly didn't see anything wrong with your page. Sometimes simple is the way to go. I wish I could work that way sometimes--I am prone to getting myself over extended (or very nearly so) by go too complex or detail oriented. Like the others I thought your use of Velcro to attach the recipe was unique and a great idea--one that I will have to add to my list of things to try. And Gail, I am totally with you on our culture here. I was just thinking the other day how awesome it is to have a place to retreat from the day to day drama of corporate culture. From the uncertainly of an impending move to the headquarters building to the exasperation of dealing with folks who, well, who just seem to stir up trouble for their own gain...sheesh!! It just leaves me speechless! But enough about that already!! Hooray for the Scrapyland MB!! So, about sharing our recipe pages, count me in. I figure I get plenty of inspiration here, so if I can give even a little back, all the better! c

hey - I loved every single page in this crock-pot swap! Literally, I feel like I have pieces of all of you with me here in my kitchen shelf! I love it - and I cherish the recipes you shared! Heck - mine is done digitally - if anything I should be apologizing for my page. {At least t his time I added a paper embellishment!!!} And you know what - I'm going to sign up for the chocolate recipe swap - hahahahahaha - even though I banned myself and Gail agreed to ban me as well! HAHAHAH - this recipe I have is just too good to pass up sharing with y'all! It makes November and December neighborhood treats sooooooo easy!!! {okay - I'll email Gail first and promise to be the very first person to have recipe pages submitted - and see if she decides to let me be in it!!!! I'll beg and talk sweetly...and since my daughter is still at home until the first of August maybe I'll recruit her to help me?!?!??!?!} Seriously ladies - i love every single page! The recipes I am working my way through - one at a time! I can't wait to have a pulled-pork taste off, but that might have to wait until our temperatures cool off a bit! LOL No one is allowed to "dis" their own pages - Barbara I loved your Velcroed feature - so perfectly logical for a recipe book!!!!! Gail and Diane do an amazing job working on this project together and making it all happen!!!!!

Well, Susan, since I'm a big believer in second (or is this the 3rd?? ;D ) chances, you're in!!! Especially since I think that may be the only way we're gonna get that recipe of yours!!! As soon as this post is finished, I'll be posting the new sign-up. Sorry I didn't get to it yesterday, but I was "supervising" the installation of our new dishwasher. Our previous one died 2 weeks ago, we ordered a new one; installation was yesterday. The new one was all hooked up and IT DIDN'T WORK!!! So now a technical expert will be coming next week to see if he can fix it, otherwise, we'll have to order another one and start all over again!!! Keith and I now have dishpan hands - paper plates and take-out are becoming the rule of the day at our house! Have a great 4th and weekend girls!! Gail

...paper plates and take-out are becoming the rule of the day at our house! Gail It's summertime, Gail! Even when your new dishwasher decides to behave itself, you don't really want to heat up your kitchen, do you? We eat on paper-looking plates (see next paragraph) on our screened porch most evenings right now. And for those of you who would like "the best of both worlds", check out the "What Is It?" line of plates and cups...the plates look like paper plates and the cups look like red paper cups. DH found them on Amazon, and I love that they're dishwasher (see, Gail?) safe!
